Range of Applications

Margosa extract can be used to control many species of insects and arachnoids, such as silverfishs (Lepisma saccarina), house flies (Musca domestica), pharaonic ants (Monomarium pharaonis), black garden ants (Lasius niger), red mites (Dermanyssus gallinae) and house dust mites (Dermatophagoides farinae).

In most target organisms, the repelling effect can be observed even at low doses. Immediately after application of the active extract, the organisms show a pronounced fleeing behaviour. Treated surfaces produce a repelling effect on the organisms, preventing an immediate re-infestation.

An additional effect occurs in some insect species. If their food is located on the treated surface, the naturally bitter compounds in margosa extract spoil the food, making it inedible. The insects then either leave the treated zone in search of food or remain and eventually starve. In all cases, the absence of food removes the insects’ ability to reproduce due to the lack of essential proteins and amino acids.

A development of tolerance or even resistance against margosa extract by the target organisms is prevented or at least significantly reduced due to its large number of biologically active constituents.

Margosa extract is natural and efficient, making it the ideal active substance for biocidal repellents.
